When I first came across the Closet Institute of America (CIA) about 15 years ago, The Closet Works was already well-established, but we were always looking for ways to do better. We attended their annual Closet Summit Conference & Vendor Expo without knowing what to expect, and truthfully, we were very pleasantly surprised.

What struck me most at that first Closet Institute of AmericaI closet & storage conference was the mix of companies: some larger, some smaller, some just like us, and some polar opposites, Each company had unique ideas, experiences, and ways of approaching their own business challenges. It really helped to put things into perspective. The questions asked during sessions were thoughtful, practical, and many addressed things we hadn't considered ourselves. The insights and feedback from the conference were valuable and helped us in our approach to ongoing improvement.

What really sets the Closet Institute apart, at least in my experience, is its real-world focus. Some other organizations are stuck on buzzwords and not addressing real-life solutions to real life problems, more like: 'I'll take your membership money and then ignore you'. However, the Closet Institute of America group really zeroed in on day-to-day challenges and practical solutions for independent closet companies like ours. It's not only about big ideas; it's about things you can put into practice tomorrow that will have an immediate impact. Sometimes little things that go unnoticed can make very significant positive differences.

The private section of their CIA website, beyond the Portal, is CIAMO, Closet Institute of America Members-Only. Being part of CIAMO has also created some fantastic business opportunities and relationships through our Wholesale Closet Components division. We've built strong connections with closet & storage companies that don't manufacture their own components. We offer these businesses high-quality products at better prices, with more customization options, all thanks to our connection through CIAMO. This helps them become more successful, grow their businesses, and enhance their bottom line, which is exactly what CIAMO aims to do—help independent closet businesses thrive.
Joining CIAMO: https://www.closetinstitute.org/member-signup proved to be more valuable than expected. It's helped us build meaningful business relationships, share important insights and data, as well as providing practical problem-solving that can contribute to the growth of our company, our clients companies and the independent closet business community as a whole, regardless of how large or how small.
